Can't beat racing in sunny, 65 degree weather...
The 4's start line was 37 deep. With the wide open course, there was plenty of room. I don't even think there was a crash in our race. Once the race started, I stayed up front in the top 10 or so. Peter and Dugas were there too, and Calvin and Bob were not far behind. Throughout the race, the attacks were coming left and right. A rider in white (couldn't see who it was because they were behind me) tried talking me, Peter and Dugas into a 4 man attack. Mmmmm...no thanks. Nothing was getting off the front for long today in the wind. A Pegasus rider went off the front for most of the last lap, until someone up front decided to chase him down going into the last two corners. I was happy to sit on wheels and conserve energy.
Going into the last corner, Calvin was itching to drill it so he kicked it up (bringing Dugas, myself and Peter along). The finish was a long one and everyone started their sprint way too soon. I passed a few people, got passed by some others, passed even a few more, etc, etc. I ended up 8th, while Dugas took an impressive 2nd (and then took 3rd in the Masters 4/5).
Even though I registered for the Masters, I decided not to race it. I don't like back-to-back races. The second race ends up with a lot of tired and not very responsive riders. In the Masters, there was at least one crash. Instead, I cheered on my teammates on the sidelines and then went home and took the TT bike for a ride in preparation for the ABR 2-man 40K TT that I'm doing with Peter Allen from my team. Should be fun.
Overall, a great day of racing in the nicest weather since the fall of 2007.

Sweet dude! Another top ten. nice work! I was sitting in highland park snobbily sipping some coffee when I saw your missed call...rode up by myself at a nice endurance pace, then did Uni Hill and got lost in Fort Sheridan...also got lost trying to pick up Ashland to Dodge, past Dyche (sp?) Stadium off of Ismerelda in Evanston...oh well...it gave me my three hours I needed. Still feeling a little week and my form is off...plus my bottom bracket is making more noise than Peter with 2 to go.
Will be home between 6 - 6:30...gonna ride down to Goose. See you there?
I thought I'd give you a call and see if you wanted to get a couple hours in. I was taking the TT bike out.
Yea, see ya down at Goose.
