The horrendous crash at the end of the 4's had us all a little spooked for the Masters 4/5 race as we were up next. A few guys dropped out before the race even started. The race went on, however, and the rider that went down (James Scott of Apache) ended up being in serious but stable condition as the ambulance took him away.
Brian M. and I were ready for a breakaway when the time presented itself, but nothing really stuck in the wind. We all sat in and waited for the sprint. Brian was riding great and leading the charge for the finish when his front wheel slid out in the 3rd corner. Luckily, no one else went down and Brian was OK. I was feeling horrible at this point and slipped from 3rd in the final sprint to 7th.
