Tour of Oak Brook RR Report

My first 3's only race. Sat mid-pack for a while, but felt uncomfortable in the pack. I think the track is spoiling me. On the track, people hold their lines and look before changing it. Not on the road, and this race was no different. Then it started raining, and my back wheel fishtailed around the 180 degree corner. That's it, I'm out. Enough road racing for me this year, I'm totally burned out on it.

MTB

Went mountain biking with a good crowd of other xXx'ers on Sunday. Man, I miss mtn biking. I haven't had that much fun on a bike in a LONG time. Thoughts of retiring from crits and RR's for a safer mix of track/MTB/CX seriously crossed my mind. It's just temporary, next year I'll be all fired up for racing on the pavement again, but I see myself eventually headed this direction.

Speaking of mtn bike racing, Mike Seguin is fast on the dirt. Seriously, if you're racing against him, pfft, good luck.

Mavic MP3

When I was shopping for new wheels, I bought the Mavic Carbone's solely because of the MP3 insurance. Total a wheel for any reason within 2 years of purchase, they will repair or replace it for free. When I taco'ed the front one at the Chicago Crit, I sent it in to Mavic. I just received a brand new replacement wheel on Friday. Brand new, shiny, and free. Hell Yea!
